What we are

PAL is a bespoke advisory service for the physiotherapy sector. Our purpose is to provide expertise, electronic tools and teaching geared to the specific needs of your practice, helping you to meet the CSP and HCPC standards and regulatory requirements and develop your business.

Why we do it

We are chartered physiotherapists who each have more than thirty years’ experience in the healthcare sector.  Between us we have managed clinical services, a care home, a hospital and a national physiotherapy service. We met when working in the independent sector and started working together in 2005. In 2015 Sarah moved into the Health and Social Care sector, managing a Care Home and helping it to achieve a Good CQC rating. Sandra meanwhile became the sole physiotherapy national lead at BMI Healthcare and continued moving more than 50 sites and almost 1000 staff into a single service meeting all regulatory requirements, continually improving the quality of the service and growing the business.

In early 2017 we decided to resign from our roles and create a business using our experience and passion to support clinicians in illustrating and evidencing how they comply with all standards and regulations for inspection and insurer requirements.

How we do it

Working as part of your team we use our unique innovative audit tool, which focuses on all the Health Care Professions Council and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy standards and regulations, to evidence and strengthen your clinical governance framework. It is in an electronic format, which makes it easy to use and details how the regulation / standard can be met and why it is necessary. We will complete the audit with you in your practice and provide you with an action plan report within 2 working days. We will bespoke a package of support for you dependent on the results of the audit and your preferences regarding methods of support.

  • Partner level: One years contact and three further audit visits over a year.

*The levels are payable in instalments over the year.

What are the benefits of using us?

Our auditing experience has shown us that clinicians are focused on clinical delivery and its measurement and there is often a need for more rigour and evidence in the supporting processes, which are essential to be compliant with the standards and regulations. In an increasingly evidence based sector, with regulation and inspection becoming more pronounced and reported upon, we can help and support you so that you can concentrate on patient care with the confidence that all your policies and governance are current and complete.

We are independent, providing our software tool to collect physiotherapy process evidence.

As insurance groups and national network physiotherapy service providers develop tighter preferred provider networks, the ability to produce process evidence alongside clinical evidence could provide a competitive advantage and showcase your practice.

Various, Feedback fromGovernance Training Day for PhysioNetBristol. March 14th, 2019

“As a private practitioner running my own business I am always pressed for time so compliance with policy and procedures is rarely a priority. However, PAL offers a comprehensive audit tool which will be invaluable in supporting private practitioners as this aspect of our business becomes more essential.”

Diane Ouzman

“We recently invited Sandra and Sarah to come and talk to our physiotherapy co-operative in Bristol regarding Audit. At the end of the session half of us looked terrified, the other half looked guilty.

What is apparent in this changing world of regulation and scrutiny is it is no longer enough just to be a good physiotherapist. You need to be able to prove it, you need to have systems in place and you need to have procedures to follow.

As an organisation, we have now started on a journey with PAL. Hopefully it will be straightforward and not too complex. I feel confident that Sandra and Sarah will be able to navigate us through what seems like a minefield.”

Keith James, PhysioNet Bristol

I really valued both yours and Sarah’s input, both on a quality improvement aspect but also to give me a much better understanding of the regulatory standards. I would like to thank you both for your help and I am sure you will make this business a success.  It is a great concept in an area that will continue to be much needed.  “
